Tyre Load Rating Index Conversion Chart

TYRE LOAD REFERENCE

Tyre Load Rating Index Chart

Use the tyre load index to check the maximum load each tyre is designed to carry.

Where to Find the Load Index

The load index is normally shown on the tyre sidewall immediately after the tyre size and before the speed-rating letter.

In the example below, the load index is 97. A load index of 97 corresponds to a maximum load of 730 kg per tyre.

Example: 730 kg × 4 load-bearing tyres = 2920 kg. This is only the combined tyre capacity; the vehicle’s plated axle and gross weight limits must still be followed.

Important: Never fit a tyre with a lower load rating than required by the vehicle manufacturer. For vans, motorhomes, caravans and heavily loaded vehicles, axle limits and tyre type are especially important.
